Joseph M. Grisanti, MD currently serves as Chief of Rheumatology at Mercy Hospital of Buffalo. He is an Assistant Clinical Professor of Medicine in the Division of Rheumatology at State University of New York at Buffalo. Dr. Grisanti is Medical Director of Buffalo Rheumatology Associates and President of the Buffalo Osteoporosis Institute. He also is the Medical Director of Pinnacle Research Associates. Board certified in internal medicine and rheumatology, Dr. Grisanti is also a Senior Attending Physician at the Millard Fillmore Hospitals in Buffalo, NY.
Dr. Grisanti is a nationally renowned speaker and is best known for his lectures in osteoporosis and arthritis. He received the coveted Paiton Memorial Award as Teacher of the Year in 1987. He serves as president of both the Buffalo Bone Club and Buffalo Rheumatology Society, and sits on the Medical and Scientific Committee of the Arthritis Foundation of Western New York, and the Medical Advisor Board of the Lupus Foundation of America, Western New York Chapter.
After receiving his BA in biology from Canisius College in Buffalo, NY, Dr. Grisanti earned his medical degree from the University of Rochester, School of Medicine in 1984. He completed an internship, his residency and served as chief resident in internal medicine at the Millard Fillmore Hospitals, State University of New York at Buffalo, between the years of 1984 and 1987. He completed his fellowship in rheumatology at the Cleveland Clinic Foundation in Cleveland, Ohio, in 1989. Dr. Grisanti has published extensively on subjects in the field of rheumatic diseases and metabolic bone disorders.
